SNICKERS® Crisper

SNICKERS® with fresh berries

Snickers® Crisper, a lighter, crispier candy bar

I had to smile when SNICKERS® asked me to review their new Crisper bar.  Snickers bars were my mom’s favorite and during my formative years there was always a good supply of them around our house.  In fact I grew up in a totally sweets-friendly environment, we had a  ‘candy drawer’ in the kitchen and you could count on there being a Snickers bar or two squirreled away in my mom’s purse — she even stashed them in her bedside table.  Looking back on it now I realize it was pretty unusual, but I’m grateful that I grew up with such a liberal approach to food.  Nothing was banned or labeled unhealthy, and really the only rock solid rule was that we had to arrive at the dinner table nice and hungry.  We got to feel our own way when it came to what we ate and I think that’s helped me sustain a healthy, balanced attitude towards food.

SNICKERS® Crisper with sushi

Of course like most kids I went through a period of rebellion.  The minute I hit college I became a vegetarian and got deep into a macrobiotic diet.  I discovered sprouts and veggie burgers and whole grains and that really set the foundation for a lot of my foodie passions to this day.

But eventually I ran into a BLT sandwich that I couldn’t refuse, and my tastes shifted around again.   I think that’s the way it should be.  When it comes to what you eat, I say follow your passions and stay open to new experiences.

SNICKERS® Crisper with kale smoothie

I love the new SNICKERS® Crisper, it’s lighter than a regular candy bar and has a nice range of textures, from the crunch of crisped rice and peanuts, to gooey caramel and creamy milk chocolate.  And at less than 200 calories, I think that’s a pretty sweet deal.

SNICKERS® Crisper Salad!

As it happens I didn’t carry on my mom’s tradition of the kitchen candy drawer, nor do I stash Snickers next to my bed, but I do think our family has a pretty healthy relationship with sweets.  It’s especially nice to have a lighter option when it comes to candy, and I can honestly say that I prefer the Crisper to the original bar, (I think it’s the crunch :)

Tasting SNICKERS® Crisper

I highly recommend giving the new SNICKERS® Crisper a try, you can find it at most convenience stores, drug stores, and supermarkets.  Be sure to buy extra, they go fast!

I’m not sure how I found your site but I’m so glad I did. I don’t know how you consistently come up with such great ideas. And your photos are so amazing. I would live to win some Snickers Crispers. Of course I would have to hide them because my husband’s on a diet. It could be our little secret.

Came across this delightful new candy bar at a convenience store I rarely visit….I purchased the king size with 4 small bars…..absolute candy bar perfection! Like a 1000 Grand, but not as chewy & sweet…the lighter texture & salt of the peanuts made it my new #1 choice….if I can find it again!!!

    Sue,
Loved your innovative photos!!! (especially the snickers sushi :))

I have to admit that I’ve got a snickers thing, too. Maybe not to the extent of your mom’s, but bad enough to be embarrassed about it! I’m sure this version will only add to the breadth of my obsession…

Thanks for the opportunity to win a sneek peak.

I think Snickers has always been one of the more hearty candy bars, Virginia, they were basically the early version of energy bars!

I keep our candy in a plastic pumpkin from Halloween on a top shelf and let the kids have one a day. I think if we had them in a drawer, the kids would eat them all in one day :) I haven’t tried the Snickers Crisper yet, it sounds really yummy!

Love the creative pictures. And I have to admit I do keep a stash of chocolate in my nightstand and my husband does too; with 4 kids (two of them teenage boys) we wouldn’t get any treats if we didn’t! Your post made me feel less guilty about my (and my kids) love of chocolate. :)

The lower calorie count does make a difference to me, and I like that it’s not due to artificial sweeteners, etc.
