I cannot fathom putting that much effort into a pie crust. My mother used to make a rhubarb pie with a lattice crust (straight edges on the lattice strips), and I would not have the skills or desire to go beyond that. They are beautiful but, for me, are not worth the effort. I do my artistry elsewhere.
Such a lovely collection of designs Sue, such a great job. There are so many ideas and lots of artistry in some of them. I also clicked to certain of your links and certain were really interesting. I have to say, though, you are the best! Enjoy the evening!
I love pie crust designs, these are so beautiful!
I agree with the comments about how pretty the unbaked pies look….I appreciate the artistry and imagine cooking changes the crispness/definition of the design.
My take away from all the beauty is to get creative with cookie cutters and not waste a scrap of pie crust dough!
Speaking of beautiful pictures – your new blog picture is wonderful!
Wow. I’m speechless. These are amazing and I am in awe of the talent here!!
Amazing pie toppers! Its an inspiration to attempt such creativity. I’ll have alot of practice in the next 2 months. Thanks for sharing.
So many of these pies have clearly not been baked yet. I’m wondering what they look like once they’ve come out the oven. I suspect many of them won’t look quite so pretty. Readers, don’t despair if your pies never look that pretty – theirs don’t either.
All that said, the baked pies pictured here are gorgeous. Those people are your true pie artists!
I agree that they look so much prettier before but it has taught me to adjust where I put things. I do have a question. I am a novice at this. How do you get more even baking of the beautiful crusts. Itโs there a cover or toll. I use diol but it seems uneven still. I get more excited every time I try!
These are truly amazing and now I realize what a slacker I am!
I know just what you mean Tara ๐
You truly chose some beauties here! Almost would make me not want to eat the pie. Well. Almost!
This was the perfect post for me to come across today as I am making a sweet potato pie! Such beautiful inspiration thanks for sharing!
