Decadent Chocolate Desserts to Ring in the New Year because if there was ever a year that called for chocolate, this would be it, am I right? No holds barred this NYE, we’re definitely making one (or 2!) of these over the top chocolate desserts.
Are you going to be stuck at home watching the ball drop? I know I’ll be in my comfy pants on the couch, probably in front of the fire. I’ve never had any interest in watching the ball drop, but I am interested in good desserts, and these are some of the chocolate highlights from years past on the blog. Any one of these recipes is perfectly capable of helping to kick 2020 out the door in style!
Ina Garten’s Chocolate Cake
A chocolate cake with chocolate frosting will always be the quintessential celebratory dessert for me, and trust me, this one doesn’t disappoint. Here are just a few of the raves on the post:
“The very best chocolate cake ever.” ~ Z.A.K.
“Omg this chocolate cake is so luscious and moist and the frosting is to die for!” ~ Cindy
“This was the best chocolate cake that I have ever made!” ~ L.
“This recipe is absolutely incredible!” ~ Deepa
Dark Chocolate Truffle Tart
If elegant is what you’re going for this New Year’s, then I recommend this tart. It’s the ultimate in rich, chocolate decadence, and the sea salt just gives it a cheffy vibe.
Milk Chocolate Mousse
Me personally? I’m going for the comfort factor with my last indulgence of 2020. Milk chocolate mousse is where it’s at, and mine will be well chilled and silky.
Jewel Box Truffles
Truffles are pretty much the definition of decadent, and these are a great excuse to clear out your pantry of all the half-used bottles of holiday sprinkles, peppermint candies, nuts, etc., for a gorgeous array of colorful and delicious coatings.
Flourless Belgian Chocolate Cake
This is one of my oldest and most trusted desserts when I’m looking for a little pizazz on a tight timeline. I’ve always got flour and sugar in my canisters, chocolate in the pantry, and eggs in the fridge. Done.
Warm Brownie Pudding
This warm brownie pudding is the casual cousin of the flourless cake, above. It’s equally as decadent, in an everybody just dig in sort of way.

December 28, 2020 at 4:51 pmThat truffle tart looks SO GOOD. It would be a good option for Valentine’s Day, too—Valentine’s just screams dark chocolate tarts to me.
